Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), is a treatment method that was approved by the FDA in 2008 for Unipolar Major Depressive Disorder. TMS is a safe and effective option with minimal side effects, and it is covered by almost all insurance plans.
TMS Success Story
We recently had a remarkable case at Suburban Behavioral Health that truly highlights the potential of TMS. An individual was referred to us by his PCP for dysphoric mood and a complex history of medical problems, which made him intolerant to all previously prescribed medications. Understandably, he was initially skeptical about TMS. However, after consulting with his comprehensive healthcare team, including his neurologist, endocrinologist, GI doctor, and PCP, he agreed to proceed with the treatment.
After completing 36 TMS sessions, we saw a dramatic improvement in his condition. His PHQ-9 score, a standard measure of depression severity, dropped to 7, one of the lowest scores we have observed. This outcome underscores the profound impact TMS can have, especially for patients who have exhausted other treatment avenues.
At Suburban Behavioral Health, we have been offering TMS since mid-2020 and have many more success stories like this one. We are committed to providing effective and innovative treatments for mental health conditions.
Please call our office if you would like to schedule a consultation discuss this further.
